GMP – Good Manufacturing Practices

Cosmetic GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) are the guidelines to follow for good manufacturing practices of cosmetic products.

The international reference standard for GMP is ISO 22716:2007 and defines the guidelines to follow for the production, control, storage and shipping phases of cosmetic products.

All manufacturing companies that are part of the cosmetic supply chain, for example the Essenziera House as in the case of Atelier Fragranze Milano, must comply with the GMP standards defined by ISO 22716.

“As Chairman of Atelier Fragranze Milano, I am proud to announce that we have obtained the GMP ISO 22716:2007 certification, which attests to our commitment to guaranteeing the Good Manufacturing Practices of our creations.

This certification is the result of our dedication to quality, safety and excellence in our production processes, elements that we consider fundamental to offering our customers reliable and innovative products.
We will continue to invest in people and technologies to maintain high standards and strengthen our position as a leader in the Fragrance sector.” Marco Maffei

The application of good manufacturing practices in accordance with harmonized standards is made mandatory by art. 8 of Reg.1223:2009 which does not, however, define the obligation to obtain certification from a third party.

The company must therefore implement a series of internal procedures and processes that allow it to guarantee the quality of cosmetic products as defined by the European cosmetics regulation.

GMP certifications by a third party have become a widespread tool for communicating their compliance with the standards, as well as being a valid aid for keeping the quality management system under control, with a vision that aims at the continuous improvement of their activities.

In order to effectively apply GMP standards, each phase of production, control, storage and shipping of the products must be documented, recorded and monitored so that it is easier to identify the points where it is necessary to intervene to respond to ever-increasing quality levels.

Another fundamental principle of GMP concerns the staff that must be constantly trained and there must be a clear definition of roles and responsibilities within the organizational structure.

As regards raw materials and all the necessary materials, it is essential to be able to maintain traceability by using good management of batch registrations, movements of goods in the warehouse and the incoming and outgoing flows of orders.
